The BAJMC, School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, participated in the Jagran Film Festival, held from 25 to 27 September 2026 at Silvercity Cinema, 103 Rajpur Road, Dehradun. Organised by Dainik Jagran in association with the Government of Uttarakhand, the festival brought together national and international cinema. Our students, accompanied by faculty members, attended the festival on 27 September 2026 to gain first-hand exposure to film exhibitions and independent cinema.

The highlight of the visit was the screening of “Jaagar”, a 15-minute Hindi documentary produced in 2025, at 12:30 PM as part of the Indian Showcase segment. The documentary was made entirely by our students, who attended the festival as members of its core team. Siddhi Chauhan directed the documentary. Monika served as its, presenter and voiceover artist, while Ananya Iyer worked as the Director of Photography (DOP), handling the camera and the entire shoot.

Watching their own work on the big screen at a professional platform, alongside films by established and emerging filmmakers, was a proud and memorable moment for the students. They also observed the organization of a large-scale film festival and interacted with fellow attendees and delegates, which helped them connect classroom learning in film, media and production with real industry practice. The experience also helped them understand audience response, festival programming and the importance of storytelling in visual media.

Overall, the visit was an inspiring and enriching experience. The screening of a student-made documentary at a prominent festival is a matter of pride for the School of Liberal Arts. The school congratulates Siddhi Chauhan, Monika and Ananya Iyer on this achievement and hopes it will motivate other students to pursue creative and independent filmmaking.
