The Women Cell of Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management (USHHM), Uttaranchal University, organised a Drawing Competition and Guest Lecture on Gender Sensitisation as part of Deeksharambh 2026, on 13 August 2026 with the objective of promoting awareness, equality, respect, and inclusivity among newly admitted students.
The Drawing Competition on Gender Sensitisation, held on the theme “Gender Equality Begins with Me”, provided students with a creative platform to express their perspectives on gender equality, mutual respect, equal opportunities, women empowerment, and social responsibility through art. Students participated enthusiastically and presented meaningful interpretations of the theme.
The competition was followed by an insightful Guest Lecture on Gender Sensitisation, focusing on gender stereotypes, equality, dignity, respectful behaviour, and the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment. The session encouraged students to understand their individual responsibilities in challenging discrimination and promoting gender-sensitive behaviour in society and the workplace.
The drawing competition also recognised the creative efforts of the students. Sacchi Gurung, B.Sc. (H&HA), Semester I, secured the First Position, while Kumar Praveen, BHMCT, Semester I, secured the Second Position. Mandeep Singh, BHMCT, Semester I, secured the Third Position. Their thoughtful artwork reflected the spirit of the theme and the importance of individual contribution towards gender equality.
The program highlighted the commitment of the Women Cell of USHHM and Uttaranchal University towards holistic student development and social awareness. The initiative also supported SDG 5: Gender Equality.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Professor Manish Badoni, Director, USHHM, with the active support of faculty members and student volunteers. Mr. Hitendra Singh Chauhan, General Secretary, Women Cell, USHHM, coordinated the program.
