The Biogenerika Club, School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University, organized a Scientific Painting & Mehndi Competition on 14 August 2026 as part of the Orientation Programme for first-year students. The event aimed to provide students with a creative platform to showcase their artistic talents, imagination, and interest in science through innovative art forms.
The competition comprised two activities: Scientific Painting and Mehndi Designing. Students enthusiastically participated and explored the integration of art and science by presenting scientific concepts, themes, and ideas through creative designs. Their artworks reflected originality, imagination, and impressive artistic skills, with themes related to biotechnology, nature, scientific concepts, and creative expression.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nishesh Sharma, HOD and Member Secretary, Biogenerika Club, along with Dr. Maneesha Pandey, Dr. Jerin James, Dr. Indra Rautela, and Dr. Monika Singh. The coordinators guided and encouraged the participants throughout the competition. Faculty members and students actively supported the programme, creating an energetic and engaging atmosphere.
The competition provided first-year students with an opportunity to develop their artistic abilities, confidence, creativity, and appreciation for the relationship between art and science. The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where the winners were appreciated and felicitated by the Dean, SALS for their outstanding performances and participation.
Overall, the event was a successful and enjoyable initiative that promoted creativity, innovation, collaboration, and student engagement at SALS.
