The Department of Chemistry successfully hosted an engaging orientation and ice-breaking session on 14 Aug, 2026 to welcome newly admitted students across various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. CBZ, M.Sc. Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, and Environmental Science (EVS).
Organized seamlessly by Dr. Manvika Karnatak and expertly coordinated by Dr. Ritu Painuli alongside Dr. Asima Imtiaz, the event was thoughtfully designed to integrate freshers into the academic community, spark intellectual curiosity, and foster companionship among peers and mentors. To blend learning with enthusiastic competition, the department arranged a series of interactive, science-themed activities that challenged the participants' critical thinking and subject knowledge. These included mind-bending scientific riddles, chemical compound identification games that tested visual and analytical deduction, and a lively game of science Pictionary where teams creatively illustrated complex scientific concepts, apparatus, and phenomena under tight time constraints.
Beyond the competitive games, the event served as a crucial platform to introduce students to the vibrant co-curricular ecosystem of the university. Detailed presentations were delivered on the department’s specialized student organizations, including the Resonance Club for academic discussions and seminars, the ACS-UU International Chapter for professional research exposure and global networking, the ECO Club for driving environmental awareness and campus sustainability initiatives, and the Sports Club for promoting physical health and athletic participation. The energetic involvement of freshers across all streams highlighted the event's resounding success in breaking the ice, establishing meaningful student-faculty connections, and setting an inspiring, collaborative tone for the academic journey ahead.
