Law College Dehradun organized the 4th Edition of the Intramural Paperless Trial Advocacy Competition 2026 as a part of TRI-LEGAL 4.0: The Law Fest, under the aegis of the Moot Court Society, from 15th to 22nd April 2026. The competition intended to enhance students’ trial advocacy skills by the use of digital tools for presenting evidence and arguments, reflecting the evolving practices of modern courtrooms and paperless environments. Participants were required to apply substantive and procedural law, analyze evidence, and uphold professional ethics, thereby strengthening their legal reasoning, advocacy, and courtroom etiquette.

The trial proposition revolved around the death of Raj Sharma, involving charges under Section 103 (Murder) and Section 238 (Disappearance of Evidence) of the Indicana Nyaya Sanhita 2023. The case presented a complex matrix of facts, including a monetary dispute, incriminating electronic communication, CCTV evidence, and the involvement of a secondary suspect. Participants were challenged to reconcile forensic findings with conflicting witness testimonies, demanding sharp analytical and interpretive skills.

The Final Round was conducted in the presence of Mr. Pankaj Kumar Rai, Senior Prosecution Officer, Dehradun, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice-Chancellor. The finalists demonstrated exceptional advocacy skills and were tested on key aspects such as circumstantial evidence and burden of proof.
