Law College Dehradun organized the final round of the fourth edition of the Intramural Mediation Competition on 5 May 2026. A total of 18 teams participated in various stages of the three-day competition. Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Rajesh Bahuguna, and Head of Law College, Dehradun, Professor Radheshyam Jha, were present as judges.
Final round of the competition was based on international mediation. The topic was negotiations between two countries during a war and the important role of mediators. Students representing their respective countries strongly presented their demands, interests, and priorities. The mediating students followed the principles of healthy mediation and brought the negotiations to a conciliatory conclusion.
Presiding over the closing ceremony of the competition, Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna noted the growing influence of mediation in the Indian legal profession. He stated that in the current context, the general public is tired of the tedious, technical procedures of litigating courts and wants to adopt alternative dispute resolution systems for speedy justice. Therefore, organizing such competitions by law colleges will help create new career paths for aspiring legal professionals. He congratulated the winners and organizers for the successful conduct of the competition.
After a tough competition, the judges declared the team of Vidhi Sharma and Khushi Khantwal as the winners, while the team of Jivesh Shukla and Sayam Tomar secured the second position. Lakshya Saral was selected as the best mediator, and Deepika as the best client.
