On 17th April 2026, the School of Liberal Arts, in collaboration with Uttaranchal College of Nursing, organised an awareness programme under the aegis of the Women Cell titled “Think Before You Click: Cyber Awareness, Gender Sensitivity and Responsible Digital Citizenship.” The event was coordinated by Dr. Rati Sood, Member, Women Cell, School of Liberal Arts, and Ms. Gulshan Attri, Member, Women Cell, Uttaranchal College of Nursing. The programme began in the afternoon with the dignified rendition of the University Kulgeet, creating an atmosphere of respect and reflection.

The Event was honoured by Prof.(Dr.) Reeta Rautela, Chairperson, Women Cell, School of Liberal Arts, and Ms. Manju Rautela, Chairperson, Women Cell, Uttaranchal College of Nursing, whose gracious presence added significance to the occasion. The session was delivered by Dr. Shagufta Praveen, Assistant Professor, UIT, whose expertise and interactive approach made the programme highly informative and relevant for the participants

The lecture focused on the increasing significance of cyber awareness in today’s digitally driven world. Dr. Praveen highlighted key concerns such as online safety, data privacy, cyberbullying, and digital footprints. She also emphasised the urgent need for gender sensitivity in online spaces, drawing attention to the challenges faced by individuals, especially women, in virtual environments. Her discussion encouraged students to become more mindful, ethical, and responsible digital citizens.

Through real-life examples, case studies, and practical suggestions, Dr. Praveen effectively illustrated how careless online behaviour can have serious personal and social consequences. She also guided students on adopting safe online practices, promoting respectful communication, and understanding the legal implications of cyber misconduct. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members, making it a meaningful and impactful learning experience.
