The Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a vaccination drive on 09/04/2026 for laboratory technicians as part of its continued efforts to promote health, safety, and biosafety compliance among staff working in laboratory environments involving biological and chemical materials.

Laboratory technicians are integral to academic and research operations and are frequently exposed to potentially hazardous biological samples, chemicals, and biomedical waste. Recognizing these risks, the institute undertook this preventive healthcare initiative.

The vaccination drive was conducted under the supervision of the Uttaranchal Hospital & Diagnostic Centre. Laboratory technicians from the departments of microbiology, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacology, and biotechnology were administered essential vaccines, including the tetanus and diphtheria (Td) booster.

This initiative not only safeguarded the health of laboratory personnel but also strengthened the institute’s commitment to biosafety practices in accordance with the Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016. It highlights the institute’s proactive approach toward ensuring a safe, compliant, and risk-free laboratory environment while fostering a culture of preventive healthcare.
