The two-day Farmers’ Fair and Agro-Industrial Exhibition organized by School of Agriculture in collaboration with Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC), Uttaranchal University Foundation, was successfully concluded on 20th March, 2026. The day began with Inter University Model Making Competition of the theme “ Innovations in Agriculture” where students from different institutions showcased their talent through their innovative models. Dr.S.P.Singh ( popularly known as Bottle Gourd Man of India) held a highly productive interactive session with large number of farmers later in the day. The valedictory session was graced by renowned environmentalist Padma Bhushan Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi as the Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi highlighted the close relationship between agriculture and environment and stressed the need for sustainable and scientific farming practices. He emphasized that farmers and students should adopt environment-friendly and modern agricultural techniques to increase productivity while conserving natural resources. He appreciated the efforts of the university for organizing the Farmers’ Fair and described such events as a useful platform for farmers, students and experts to share knowledge and experiences.
The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony in which the first prize in the model making competition was bagged by School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, while Jigyasa University and Shivalik Engineering College stood at Second and Third Position respectively. The award for the most innovative stall was given to Greenich Greens for demonstrating strawberry production using soilless hydroponics technology.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, School of Agriculture, who expressed gratitude to the university management, sponsors, faculty members, students and farmers for their support in making the event successful. During the prize distribution ceremony, Shri Jitendra Joshi, President of the University, Prof.(Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dr. S. P. Singh, popularly known as the “Bottle Gourd Man of India ”, were present along with faculty members, students and a large number of farmers.
