Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences celebrated National Women’s Day on February 13, 2026, with great enthusiasm and a spirit of empowerment to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu, known as the "Nightingale of India." The program was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony. Following this, the director of UCHS highlighted the importance of recognizing the strength, resilience, and achievements of women in all spheres of life.
A guest lecture on “Women Empowerment and the Role of Women in Indian Society” was the highlight of the celebration. The session was delivered by a renowned personality Smt. Kusum Kandwal, Chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women, who is widely recognized for her dedicated work toward women’s upliftment and social welfare. The resource person shared inspiring insights about the challenges faced by women and the importance of self-reliance, education, and leadership in achieving gender equality. She also spoke about various initiatives and community efforts that have contributed significantly to improving the status and opportunities for women in the state.
Students actively participated in the program and engaged enthusiastically in the interactive session that followed the lecture. The celebration served as a platform to create awareness about women’s rights, dignity, and empowerment while motivating students to contribute positively toward building a more equitable society. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person and participants.
