Law College Dehradun organised a two-day Sushila Devi Memorial Inter-University Volleyball Tournament from 13-14 February 2026 at Uttaranchal University. Lalit Kumar, a renowned international player who has long led the Indian volleyball team, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Men's and women's teams from universities and colleges across the state participated in the tournament. 


University President Shri. Jitender Joshi welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet of flowers and a memento. He stated that the gracious presence of the former Indian captain significantly boosted the players' enthusiasm. He warmly encouraged the participating teams. 


Lalit Kumar, who has represented India in a series of international competitions, explained the tricks of volleyball to the players in his address. He said that success in the sport requires high-level fitness. The playground is a player's favourite place. Fair competition and sportsmanship are more important than winning or losing. He advised the players to always enter the field after adequate warm-up and to take care of their bodies along with the game. 


The team from Kumaon University emerged as the winners while Uttaranchal University were the runner-up. On this occasion, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Head of the University Sports Committee, Prof. Sharad Pandey, Sports Coach Shiva Malik, Dr. Nikunj Yadav, Dr. Priyansh Kaushik, Ajay Singh Rawat, Sunil Kumar and a large number of students were present.
