Strengthening Academic Integrity: Orientation Program Cum Workshop on Research Ethics and Turnitin Integration

The Central Library successfully organized a specialized training session titled “Research Ethics: Integrating Turnitin” on February 16, 2026. The event, held in the SALS Seminar Hall, was graced by the presence of the Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Prof. Ajay Singh, and faculty members of Uttaranchal University. In a dedicated segment for new research scholars, both Prof. Buddhi and Prof. Singh provided a deep dive into the Ph.D. course curriculum, outlining: 


Academic expectations and milestones. 

The importance of foundational coursework. 

Aligning research goals with university standards and many more.  


Session Highlights 

The program was designed to enhance awareness and implementation of academic integrity practices across the university community. Key takeaways included the following: 

Library Resources: The university librarian provided a concise overview of available library services and research resources tailored for new scholars. 

Expert Guidance: Guest experts Mr. Gautam Raval and Mr. Deepak Kushwaha from Turnitin delivered detailed tutorials on the following: 

Navigating the platform and manuscript submission. 

Interpreting similarity reports. 

Understanding acceptable similarity thresholds and citation best practices. 

Hands-on Training: Participants received practical exposure to the Turnitin platform to ensure the highest standards of scholarly writing. 


Impact and Objectives 

The session emphasized proactive strategies for fostering originality and responsible research conduct. Through an interactive Q&A format, faculty members and new research scholars were able to clarify technical queries, gaining the confidence to seamlessly integrate Turnitin into their academic workflows.
