School of Agriculture Conducts Expert Talk on Career Counselling, Agri Internships and Placement Opportunities

An Expert Talk on “Career Counselling, Agri Internships, and Placement Opportunities” was successfully organized by the School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, on 24th February 2026. 

The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, SOA, who welcomed the guest speaker and addressed the gathering. In his address, he highlighted various career opportunities available in agriculture, the importance of career counselling, internship exposure, and placement readiness. He encouraged students to actively explore emerging avenues in agribusiness and allied sectors to build a successful professional journey. 

The Expert Talk was delivered by Mr. Arun Kumar Sahu, an IIFM alumnus, who actively interacted with the students. He emphasized the importance of obtaining at least a graduate degree and advised students to focus initially on gaining job opportunities and experience rather than focusing solely on lucrative remuneration packages. He discussed the growing importance of the agribusiness sector and the increasing involvement of private companies in agriculture for profit and development. He motivated the students to become job creators rather than job seekers by starting their own businesses related to agriculture. He also shared success stories of individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of agriculture. The session was interactive and concluded with a doubt-clearing session, where students participated enthusiastically and asked questions related to careers, internships, and business opportunities. 

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad, HoD, SOA, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, faculty members, and students for making the event successful.
