Law College Dehradun organised a Legal Awareness Camp on 25 February 2026 in the slum area of Selaqui, Dehradun, under the aegis of its Legal Aid Centre in collaboration with the Pro Bono Club. The event was initiated in the presence of Mr. Vatsal Chaudhary, Chairperson Legal Aid Centre and Dr. Abhiranjan Dixit Faculty-in-Charge Pro Bono Club. The primary objective of the camp was to spread awareness about legal rights, government welfare schemes, child protection laws, and civic responsibilities among the underprivileged community.
The camp was conducted in short sessions that included five speakers 4 Executive Members of Legal Aid Centre and 1 Pro Bono Associate respectively, each addressing a different but significant topic. Tia Chawla delivered an insightful speech on Women Empowerment and Domestic Violence. She explained the rights of women under various laws and informed the audience about protection available against domestic violence. Kairavi S. Gautam spoke on the Juvenile Justice Act and Child Welfare and explained the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and highlighted the rights of children in need of care and protection. Ankita Gupta addressed the people on various Government Welfare Schemes and provided information about schemes related to health, education, housing, and financial assistance. Aishwarya spoke about Civic Sense and Community Responsibility. Vidhi Tiwari concluded the session by summarizing the key points and motivating the community members to stay informed and united in safeguarding their rights.
The camp witnessed active participation from the local residents and proved to be a meaningful initiative in promoting legal consciousness and empowering the community. Pamphlets were also distributed, disseminating information about important government helplines and support mechanisms to ensure timely access to assistance.
