An industrial visit to the Sewage Treatment Plant of 68 MLD capacity, Kargi, Dehradun was successfully conducted on 9 February 2026 by the Department of Civil Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology. A total of 55 students from B.Tech. second and third year participated in the visit. The primary objective of this visit was to provide students with practical exposure and industry-oriented learning in the field of wastewater treatment and environmental engineering. The visit commenced at 10:00 AM, when the event coordinator Mr. Ashish Pathani (Assistant Professor) and students reached the STP premises. During the visit, various treatment units and operations were observed in sequence. The first unit explained was the receiving tank, where raw sewage from the city is collected and regulated before further treatment.

Subsequently, the group was taken to the aeration tank, where biological treatment took place. The next unit observed was the sedimentation tank, where suspended solids and biological flocs were allowed to settle under gravity. Finally, the students observed the chlorination tank, where disinfection of treated effluent was carried out to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms before discharge. The visit concluded in the afternoon with an interactive session, where students clarified their doubts with Plant Engineers. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be highly informative and enriching, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world wastewater treatment practices.
