The Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness, School of Liberal Arts, and Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, Uttaranchal University, jointly organized a workshop titled “Ancient Wisdom for Modern Skill Development: Cultivating Emotional Awareness and Happiness Through Movement and Dramatic Play” to mark Geeta Jayanti on December 2, 2025. The event was coordinated by Dr. Aayushi Sharma, Assistant Professor, Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness, and Prof. (Dr.) Reeta Rautela, HoD, School of Liberal Arts and Coordinator, Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), Uttaranchal University. The coordinators extended a formal floral felicitation.
The programme commenced with a welcome address, after which students Manveen Kaur and Ankit (B.A. JMC, 3rd Year) delivered a brief presentation on lifelong learning lessons from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. The workshop session was conducted by Ms. Ishmeet, Faculty, Rekhi Foundation, who facilitated activities integrating concepts from Indian Knowledge Systems with contemporary movement- and expression-based practices. Participants engaged in structured experiential exercises rooted in natya, dramatic play, and the principles of rasa, bhava, and embodied expression.
The workshop provided participants an opportunity to develop emotional awareness, enhance emotional regulation, and strengthen essential soft skills such as empathy, expressive communication, and self-reflection. Additionally, the event promoted an appreciation of India’s traditional knowledge frameworks and their application in modern skill development and well-being. The proceedings concluded with the formal felicitation of the resource person by the Coordinator, Centre for IKS, followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Aayushi Sharma.
