The School of Agriculture at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organised a one-day skill development training on the preparation of Panchagavya and Jeevamrut on 2nd December 2025 for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students.

The training began with an introduction to natural and organic farming, helping students understand how these systems support sustainable crop production. Participants were also briefed on the key pillars of natural farming and learned why traditional cow-based inputs play an important role in enriching soil life, enhancing microbial activity, and strengthening plant health.

Students observed the preparation of Panchagavya and Jeevamrut and learned about the different ingredients and their importance. Each ingredient—such as cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd, clarified butter, jaggery, and gram flour—was explained in simple terms to highlight its purpose in strengthening microbial activity, improving soil structure, and supporting crop growth.

Based on the "learning by doing" concept, students mixed the ingredients themselves during the practical session, learned the correct consistency, and understood the basic fermentation process. The training was guided by Ms. Mansi Nautiyal, Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture, who ensured every student gained confidence in preparing these natural formulations for field use.
