The Department of Civil Engineering organized a site visit to the Irrigation Department’s Head Office construction project for the fifth and seventh semester B.Tech Civil Engineering students. The visit aimed to enhance students’ practical understanding of the ongoing foundation works at the site.
The visit was effectively coordinated by Mr. Vinod Balmiki and Mr. Loknath Kumar, who ensured that students gained systematic exposure to each stage of the construction process. Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Chaudhary, Director, UIT, conveyed his best wishes for the learning experience and encouraged students to correlate theoretical knowledge with field practices. During the interaction, Mr. Gaurav Thakur, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, emphasized the significance of practical supervision, safety compliance, and professional responsibility in civil engineering projects.
Assistant Project Manager Mr. Yogender Singh and Regional Engineer Mr. Alok Joshi were present at the construction site and provided detailed insights into excavation procedures, reinforcement placement, shuttering arrangements, and the quality control measures implemented during foundation execution.
Students observed real-time project management practices, material handling techniques, and technical decision-making processes adopted by the Irrigation Department. The visit proved highly beneficial in bridging classroom learning with on-site implementation, thereby strengthening students’ understanding of foundation engineering and departmental construction procedures.
