On the occasion of World Mental Health Day (10th October 2025), the Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) organized a student visit to the State Mental Health Institute, Selaqui, with the objective of sensitizing students to the importance of mental health and providing them with practical exposure to psychiatric care. The visit was part of UIPS’s commitment to promoting holistic education and raising awareness regarding mental well-being.
A total of 25 students, accompanied by 2 faculty members, participated in the visit. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by hospital officials and mental health professionals. The session began with an orientation talk on mental health awareness, emphasizing the need for empathy, early intervention, and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
Students had the opportunity to interact with psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and counsellors, gaining valuable insights into the real-world challenges faced by individuals with mental health conditions. The professionals discussed therapeutic approaches, counselling methods, and the role of healthcare workers, including pharmacists, in supporting mental wellness.
The visit proved to be an enriching experience for all participants, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical understanding. The initiative successfully reinforced UIPS’s mission to nurture socially responsible and compassionate healthcare professionals.
