As part of its ongoing commitment to industry and government interaction, students from the Department of Civil Engineering participated in ”Maanak Manthan,” a technical session organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun Branch Office. The event, held on 29 October 2025 at Hotel Regenta near ISBT, focused on Indian Standard IS 2925 — Specification for Industrial Safety Helmets.
The programme served as an important platform for outreach, participation, and exposure visits, bringing together academicians, regulators, industry experts, and testing professionals to deliberate on the revision of industrial safety standards. Students gained valuable exposure to the standard formulation process, safety testing procedures, and regulatory frameworks, directly interacting with BIS officers and technical experts.
This participation reflects the department’s emphasis on fostering industry–academia collaboration and enhancing students’ understanding of real-world safety practices. Such engagements strengthen institutional linkages with national organizations and encourage future collaborations through initiatives like the BIS Student Chapter.
