The Red Cross Society, Uttarakhand Branch, in collaboration with the Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, successfully conducted a five-day CPR and First Aid Training Session from October 13 to 17, 2025. The program aimed to strengthen the life-saving skills and clinical competence of first-semester B.Sc. Nursing students.

The intensive training was organized under the guidance of Dr. Midhun Kurian, with operational coordination by Mr. Mayur Semwal and Ms. Nitika Thakur, esteemed faculty members of the College of Nursing. The event formed part of the nationwide observance of CPR Week 2025, emphasizing the importance of prompt and skilled intervention in emergencies.

Throughout the week, students actively participated in a blend of interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice sessions. Topics included cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), rescue breathing, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and management of fractures, bleeding, burns, and other medical emergencies. Simulation-based training using manikins provided an opportunity for participants to translate theory into practice with precision and confidence.

Instructors highlighted not only the technical aspects of CPR and first aid but also stressed the significance of quick assessment, teamwork, calm decision-making, and effective communication during real-life emergencies. The participatory nature of the training encouraged students to internalize techniques and cultivate a sense of responsibility toward community health.

By the end of the program, participants exhibited enhanced confidence, improved clinical judgment, and readiness to provide emergency care in critical situations. Many students expressed enthusiasm to share their newly acquired knowledge with peers, family members, and the community, amplifying the reach of this life-saving education.

The event concluded with an acknowledgment of the collaborative efforts of the Red Cross Society and the College of Nursing. Their combined initiative not only strengthened the practical skills of future healthcare professionals but also reinforced the university’s commitment to producing competent, compassionate, and community-oriented nurses.
