With great zeal and enthusiasm, the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS) celebrated National Sports Day on 29 August 2025, in remembrance of the legendary Major Dhyan Chand. The Sports Club organised an action-packed sports activity exclusively for all students, aiming to foster fitness, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition.
The event, inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director, USCS, inspired students to actively engage in both academic and co-curricular activities. Featuring a lively lineup of games, including chess and badminton, the programme created a cheerful and energetic atmosphere across the campus. The spirit of enthusiasm continued throughout the event, with students showcasing spirited participation. Winners of the activities were recognised for their remarkable performance, with Ankita from BCA I F emerging as the winner in chess, and in badminton, Hardhit Chandola of MCA I A and Deepika Rawat of BCA III B securing the winners’ positions in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively.
The event was a great success under the supervision of Dr Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD of USCS. The sports event was coordinated by Mr Deepak Pant, Mr Manish Negi, Mr Ashish Bhatt, Mr Nitin Sharma, Mr Shorab Ali, Mr Anoop Shekhar Chamoli, and Ms Neha Bhatt, with support from Ms Manisha Saini, Ms Manisha Khanduja, and student volunteers.
