The Department of Forensic Science, School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University, organized an educational visit to the Forensic Science Laboratory on 29th August 2025 for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. Forensic Science first-year students. The visit was envisioned by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Director, SALS, with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to real-world forensic casework.
The program was coordinated by Mr. Himanshu Saurabh and accompanied by faculty members Ms. Muskan Gupta, Ms. Monika Bharti, and Mr. Devesh Tewari. During the visit, students explored various divisions of the laboratory. In the Chemistry & Toxicology Division, they learned about the analysis of poisons and narcotics. The DNA and Serology Division introduced them to biological fluid analysis and DNA profiling. The Ballistics Division provided insights into firearm and ammunition examination, while the Cyber Forensics Division showcased techniques used in digital evidence recovery and cybercrime investigations.
The visit proved to be an enriching academic experience, helping students bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical applications. It inspired them to pursue excellence in forensic science and contributed significantly to their professional growth.
