Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University –28-29 August 2025
Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM) celebrated National Sports Day on 28–29 August 2025 with the inaugural event, ‘Sports Deeksharambh,’ aimed at welcoming first-year students and showcasing their sports enthusiasm through a series of competitive games.
The event was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, along with Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, and Mr Shiva Malik, University Sports Head. Their presence underscored the significance of sports in promoting teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle among students. Members of the Sports Club Committee and other faculty members also played vital roles in ensuring the event's success.
The day witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 250 students participating in various sports categories, including carrom, badminton, table tennis, tug of war, chess, and arm wrestling. The spirited competition was a testament to the students' passion and dedication. Prabhav (BBA) won the table tennis title, while in carrom, Lokesh Bora topped the boys’ category and Payal (MBA) the girls. Badminton saw Shivam Kumar (BBA) and Mahima (BBA) emerge as winners. In chess, Gautam Khatri (MBA) and Drishti (BBA) claimed top spots. Aditya Panwar dominated arm wrestling, and the MBA 1st Year teams won both boys’ and girls’ tug of war.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by Prof Suri and Dr Tilottama Singh. Their presence at the prize distribution ceremony added prestige to the event.
The Sports Club members, including Mr Hardev Singh, Sports Club Head, faculty coordinators, along with student volunteers, played a crucial role in organising the event. The event highlighted the institute's commitment to fostering a holistic environment. Special thanks to the Deputy Registrar and UIM Club Head for their support in making the event a success.
