Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, had the honour of hosting a remarkable seminar on Financial Literacy on 21 August 2025, graced by esteemed dignitaries and industry leaders. The session began with a warm welcome to Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University; Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM; and distinguished guests, including Mr Deep Mani Shah, CGM, SEBI; Mr Joginder Singh, Vice President, NSE; and CS Shruti Sharma, the driving force behind this initiative. The inaugural ceremony was marked by the traditional lamp lighting and the University Kulgeet.
Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri emphasised the importance of risk and crisis management in the stock market, stressing the need for youth to handle finances responsibly. He further noted that the Guest of Honour’s expertise would enhance students’ financial awareness.
Mr Deep Mani Shah, a qualified company secretary and lawyer, sensitised students about regulatory risks, compliance, and investor protection frameworks. Mr Joginder Singh, with over two decades of regulatory expertise and specialisation in securities law, inspired students with insights on investor protection, ethical conduct, and evolving trends in the capital market, encouraging them to plan wisely and invest prudently.
An engaging online quiz was conducted by CS Shruti Sharma (SEBI), stimulating critical thinking and reinforcing the session’s learnings. Over 1,000 students participated, competing enthusiastically for the top five prizes.
The seminar underscored the importance of financial discipline, responsible investments, and safeguarding against financial pitfalls. It concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof (Dr) Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the institute for the insightful and enriching session.
