Law College Dehradun inaugurated its Alumni Talk Series 2025 on 20 August under the aegis of the Training and Recruitment Division of the college, by inviting Dr Aman Rab, partner at the state’s renowned law firm Rab & Rab Associates, as the first speaker of the series.
Dr Rab completed his undergraduate studies at Law College Dehradun and later pursued his Ph.D. at the same institution, carrying out research on laws related to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.
In his address, Dr Rab remarked that the present era is one of digitalisation. He emphasised that expertise in digital research, along with proficiency in Artificial Intelligence tools, has now become an essential requirement for advocates. He introduced students to the concept of the traditional versus digital justice system and discussed in detail the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence in law. He further explained the often-perceived complexities of AI in simple terms and encouraged students to keep pace with new technologies.
Professor Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University and Dean of the College, highlighted that in the 23 years since the inception of Law College Dehradun, more than 6,000 of its graduates are practising in District Courts, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India, while some alumni are also successfully practising in courts abroad, including in Canada, Australia and Dubai. He added that under this series, alumni who have created a niche in the legal profession have been invited. These distinguished alumni not only share the secrets of their success but also provide students with opportunities for internships and placements within their institutions.
