Prof Rajesh Bahuguna delivered the welcome address and spoke at length about the importance of moral values as guiding principles in one’s personal and professional journey. He further highlighted the relevance of the Indian Knowledge System in modern times, pointing out how its principles and practices continue to provide solutions to contemporary challenges. He emphasised the importance of ancient Indian literature and its timeless relevance in shaping character and nurturing intellectual growth.
Mr Bhavsar, in his session, introduced the audience to the richness of ancient Indian history and connected it with the challenges of modern life. He explained the functioning of the human mind and discussed how the absence of control over one’s thoughts can lead to conditions such as anxiety and depression. He particularly highlighted the stress faced by lawyers and legal professionals due to the demanding nature of their work. Drawing extensively from the Bhagavad Gita, he cited shlokas that illustrate the importance of self-discipline, inner balance, and mental clarity. He emphasised that the mind, when disciplined, becomes a friend, but when uncontrolled, acts as an enemy. To address these challenges, he recommended the adoption of practices from the Indian Knowledge System such as meditation, chanting, and mindful living.
