Objectives of the event: To familiarise students with modern laboratory equipment and research methodologies.

An educational laboratory visit was organised for M.Pharm first-year students at the Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, to the DNA Labs Centre for Research & Innovation Studies. The purpose of this visit was to provide students with practical exposure to advanced research techniques and to enhance their understanding of molecular biology and its applications in pharmaceutical sciences.

A special highlight of the visit was an engaging and informative session conducted by Dr Narotam Sharma, a renowned expert in the field of molecular biology. Dr Sharma delivered an insightful lecture on the applications of molecular biology in pharmaceutical research and drug development. He discussed various molecular techniques such as PCR, gene cloning, and CRISPR, and their significance in identifying drug targets and developing personalised medicine. He also emphasised the role of molecular biology in pharmacogenomics and how it contributes to the advancement of therapeutic approaches.

Overall, the educational visit to the DNA Labs Centre for Research & Innovation Studies was a great success. It significantly enhanced the academic and professional knowledge of the students, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. The Institute extends its sincere thanks to Dr Narotam Sharma and the team at DNA Labs for their valuable time and support, and to the faculty coordinators, Prof (Dr) Shradha Bisht and Dr Pallavi Chand, for organising this enriching academic experience.
