Anti-Ragging Awareness Week at USCS (12–18 August 2025)

Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS) organised a week-long Anti-Ragging Awareness campaign to promote respect, inclusion, and healthy peer relationships. Students across all courses took an Anti-Ragging Pledge, affirming their commitment to a safe and supportive campus.

On 18 August, a Poster-Making Competition themed “From Freshers to Friends – End Ragging” saw enthusiastic participation from MCA, BCA, and B.Sc. IT students. A Flash Mob added creative flair, symbolising the journey from fear to friendship.

Prof. (Dr) Sonal Sharma, Director, USCS, addressed the gathering, emphasising the emotional toll of ragging and reinforcing the institution’s zero-tolerance policy. Her message— “Take the lead in creating a safe and welcoming environment, where every student feels valued, respected, and free from fear”—deeply resonated.

Numerous students showcased their creativity and commitment to the cause. The winners were:
First Prize: Nimmi Thapa (BCA V-E)
Second Prize: Sadiya Praveen (BCA III-F)
Third Prize: Rina Kumari (MCA III-C)

The competition entries were judged by an esteemed panel comprising Ms Dimple Chaudhary and Dr Ashish Kumar. The evaluation was based on Creativity, Originality, Content, and Effectiveness of Theme Presentation.

The event was successfully coordinated by Ms Ruby Faizan, Head of the Anti-Ragging Committee, Ms Manisha Saini, and Ms Manisha Khanduja, under the guidance of Dr Sameer Dev Sharma, HOD, USCS.

The Anti-Ragging Awareness Week was a resounding success, leaving a strong message of unity, empathy, and friendship across the campus.
