The School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, organized a faculty wellness program “Breathe to Be: A One-Day Workshop on Mindful Breathing for Inner Strength” on 30th August 2025, under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Vohra, Director, School of Liberal Arts. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Aayushi Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Liberal Arts.
The one-day workshop was facilitated by two eminent experts—Dr. Meena Singh, Founder of Meena Yoga, and Dr. Vishal Anand, Pranayama and Meditation Specialist—who were warmly welcomed and felicitated by Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Vohra and Dr. Reeta Rautela, Head of Department, SLA.
Designed as a faculty wellness initiative, the program aimed to develop psychological resilience and inner strength through the practice of mindful breathing. The resource persons introduced participants to practical techniques of pranayama, guided meditation, and experiential breathing exercises tailored to regulate stress and cultivate emotional balance.
The sessions also incorporated simple yoga postures to release muscular tension, improve posture, and restore energy. These practices were highlighted as particularly beneficial for academicians who spend long hours in teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities. Along with physical well-being, the experts emphasized the mental and emotional benefits of integrating such practices into everyday routines.
The highly interactive environment encouraged active learning, self-reflection, and meaningful discussions. Faculty members engaged deeply with the exercises, sharing insights about their usefulness in both professional and personal life.
The workshop was widely appreciated, reflecting the School of Liberal Arts’ ongoing commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also the holistic wellness of its faculty community.
