The Departments of Aerospace, Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University, jointly inaugurated a one-week Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Leadership Development, Functional Skills and Strategic Planning” on 22 July 2025.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by the Convenor, setting the tone for the week-long programme focused on enhancing leadership potential, strategic thinking, and functional skills among faculty and professionals.
Prof. Dharam Buddhi, the Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural speech, he emphasised the need for academic leaders to embrace innovation, emotional intelligence, and long-term vision in their professional journey.
Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Chaudhary, Director of UIT, addressed the gathering and highlighted the relevance of such interdisciplinary initiatives in building capable and future-ready professionals.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr Kuldeep Gairola, Additional State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Uttarakhand, who provided thought-provoking insights on the difference between a leader and a manager, explaining how leadership goes beyond administration and focuses on vision, empathy, and empowerment.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the Programme Co-ordinator, acknowledging the valuable presence of all dignitaries and participants. The inaugural session set an inspiring and energetic tone for the week’s upcoming events.
