The Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences conducted its vaccination drive for laboratory technicians as part of its ongoing commitment to ensure health, safety, and biosafety compliance for staff handling biological and chemical materials in laboratory settings.
Laboratory technicians play a vital role in supporting academic and research activities, and their work often involves exposure to potentially hazardous biological specimens, chemicals, and biomedical waste.
During the vaccination drive, conducted under the supervision of the Uttaranchal Hospital & Diagnostic Centre, all laboratory technicians involved in Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, and Biotechnology laboratories were administered essential vaccines such as the Tetanus and Diphtheria (Td) Booster.
This vaccination initiative not only ensured the personal safety of laboratory staff but also reinforced the institute's biosafety practices as outlined in the Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016. It reflects the institute’s proactive approach to creating a safe and compliant laboratory environment, minimising infection risks, and promoting a culture of preventive healthcare.
