The Uttaranchal School of Hotel and Hospitality Management (USHHM), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, successfully organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Research Methodology: Tools, Techniques, and Trends” from 22 to 28 July 2025. The FDP aimed to enhance the research capabilities of faculty members across disciplines by providing an in-depth understanding of various research methods and analytical tools relevant to academic and applied research.
The programme commenced with a formal inauguration by the Director of USHHM and the organising team. It featured a series of expert-led sessions covering both fundamental and advanced aspects of research methodology.
Dr Rashmi Singh Rana, HOD, Department of Legal Studies, Banasthali Vidyapith, opened the technical sessions with an overview of research designs, including exploratory, descriptive, and experimental methods. Dr Srishti Thakur from Integral University followed with a session on identifying research problems and formulating objectives and hypotheses.
Day three featured sessions by Prof (Dr) Manish Badoni and Dr Gargi Pant Shukla, who delved into sampling techniques, questionnaire preparation, and data sources in hospitality research. Quantitative analysis using SPSS and Excel was covered by Prof (Dr) Babita Rawat, who also introduced inferential statistics, correlation, and regression analysis.
On the fifth day, qualitative research methods were the focus, with Prof (Dr) Megha Aggarwal guiding participants through tools such as VoS Viewer and Biblioshiny (R). The final session on 28 July emphasised research ethics, plagiarism prevention, academic writing, and publication processes in reputed journals.
The FDP concluded with a valedictory ceremony, celebrating a week of rich academic engagement. The programme was lauded for its practical orientation and multidisciplinary approach, making it a valuable experience for all participants.
