Law College Dehradun organised ‘Nukkad Natak- Voice of the Voiceless: A Step Towards Gender Inclusivity’ on 10 April 2025. The event aimed to highlight the struggles of the marginalized communities, particularly the LGBT community, who often lack a platform to express their pain. The street play was staged in front of the Food Court at Uttaranchal University and was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Dharam Buddhi (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna (Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean, Law College Dehradun), Prof. Dr. Poonam Rawat (Principal, Law College Dehradun), along with faculty and students from various departments.
The narrative centered on the life of SHAKTI, a transgender individual, depicting the discrimination and harassment faced from school through to job interviews, ultimately leading to a tragic decision. Through emotive performances and active audience engagement, the play stirred empathy and called for action, drawing attention to often-overlooked injustices and urging reflection and meaningful steps toward change. The performance inspired individuals to contribute to a more inclusive, compassionate, and just society by challenging gender biases and advocating for equal rights and opportunities for all.
By becoming the Voice of the Voiceless, the play sparked important conversations, encouraged empathy, and promoted acceptance, aiming to foster a more respectful and sensitized community. The event was well-coordinated and enacted by Ms. Gargi Pant and her team.
