Law College Dehradun organised the Intra-University Group Discussion Competition 2.0, under the aegis of Vasundhara – The Green Society on 2 April 2025. The event provided a platform for students to engage in a thought-provoking discussion on "Innovative Mechanisms for International Water Dispute Resolution: A Pathway to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals." 

The competition commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp and the University Kulgeet, setting a dignified tone. The event was moderated by the executive members of the society. Esteemed Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna (Dean, Law College Dehradun and Patron of Vasundhara – The Green Society), and Principal, Prof. Dr. Poonam Rawat, felicitated the judges: Prof. Dr. Jitendra Singh (Head of Management, LCD) and Prof. Babita Rawat (UIM). 

Prof. Dr. Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Chairperson of Vasundhara – The Green Society, delivered an insightful address on innovative techniques for resolving international water disputes and highlighted the role of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in ensuring equitable water distribution and long-term environmental sustainability. 

The debate covered themes such as the role of international treaties, the rising threat of water wars, artificial intelligence (AI) & technology-driven solutions, mediation & arbitration, public participation, and local conservation strategies. The finalists demonstrated exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills in addressing one of the world’s most pressing environmental and geopolitical challenges. 

The Winners are as follows:  

  • 1st Prize and Cash Prize of ₹2000 - Ms. Astha Garkoti, B.Tech, CSE,  
    UIT 

  • 1st runner up award and Cash Prize of ₹1500 - Shlokarth, LCD and the  
    2nd Runner – Up prize and Cash Prize of ₹1000 - Devesh Koirala, B.Tech., UIT 

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the PRO of Vasundhara – The Green Society and was moderated by Aeshan Jain and Anjali Gusain.
