The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University Institute of Technology (UIT) successfully organized an enlightening guest lecture on "Unlock the Power of Semantic Search: Revolutionizing PostgreSQL with pgvector" on April 21, 2025. The session was led by Mr Vivek Singh, Principal Database Specialist at Amazon Web Services (AWS). The event was grace by the presence Dr Sumit Chaudhary, Director, UIT, Dr Madhu Kirola, HoD CSE along with faculty members and more than 1000+ students.

Mr Singh, a seasoned expert in database technologies, shared deep insights into the growing relevance of semantic search and its transformative impact on modern data systems. He demonstrated how the integration of pgvector with PostgreSQL is enabling more intelligent, context-aware search capabilities by leveraging machine learning and vector embedding.

The lecture emphasized practical applications, scalability, and the performance benefits of semantic search, offering students and faculty a glimpse into cutting-edge database innovations shaping the future of data management.

The event received an overwhelming response from students, faculty, and research scholars, reflecting a strong interest in advanced data systems and their applications in industry.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering extends heartfelt thanks to Mr Vivek Singh for his time, knowledge, and inspiring presence, and looks forward to more such knowledge-sharing initiatives in the future.
