Uttaranchal University organized a seminar on ‘Accelerate Action-policies for gender sensitization: A key to societal growth’, under the aegis of Women’s cell and ICC on the eve of the International Women’s Day on the 7 March 2025 at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium. The keynote speaker, Ms N Vidhya, is a noted advocate of the High Court of Delhi and an expert on POSH & Women’s Laws with over 23 years of experience as a counsel and a panelist for POSH at various organizations.
On the occasion, over 300 students and staff from all 12 schools participated. Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Chairperson, ICC & Women’s Cell, Uttaranchal University delivered the opening address. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Dean, Law College Dehradun addressed the gathering on the institutionalization of gender sensitivity and inclusivity. The event was highlighted by a conceptual interaction on gender sensitization and its perception in society by Ms Garima Singh and Adhiraj Pundir. Some of the recommendations in the policy implementation strategies proposed during the event include ministerial coordination, civil society partnerships, resource allocation for research and personnel including capacity building.
Mrs Anuradha Joshi, Chairperson, Sushila Devi Centre for Professional studies in her address stated that accelerating action towards gender sensitization requires a multi-faceted approach and the policy recommendations and implementation strategies can help create a more inclusive and equitable society, driving societal growth and development.
The students of Uttaranchal Ayurvedic Medical College & Research performed Saraswathi Vandana and Nirtya Natika, a heart winning performance on Women Empowerment. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by the Member Secretary of the Women’s Cell and the national anthem.
