A special awareness session on Menstrual Hygiene was successfully organized by the Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun in celebration of Women's Day on 7 March 2025. The event aimed to educate and empower individuals by addressing the importance of menstrual health, breaking societal taboos, and promoting proper hygiene practices. The event was graced by the presence of Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola, Director, Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun), Dr Nidhi Gairola, Head of Department, Dr Pallavi Chand and other esteemed faculty members, and enthusiastic students.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address by our honoured guest speaker, Dr Satwinder Kaur Malhotra, Deputy Medical Superintendent, UMCAR and Emergency Medical Officer, Uttaranchal Hospital and Diagnostic Centre. The session was interactive, allowing students to ask questions and gain clarity on various aspects of menstrual health. Dr Malhotra’s expertise and approachable made the discussion engaging and informative.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Pallavi Chand for making the session a meaningful and impactful one. The awareness session served as an important step towards normalizing conversations around menstrual health and encouraging young minds to take proactive steps in their personal well-being.
