The Department of Chemistry under the aegis of School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, successfully hosted a One Day seminar on “Accelerating Equity in Science” on occasion of the Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB) 2025 on 13 February 2025. The event was organized under this theme to emphasize on the role of women in science and technology and fostering discussions on gender equity in science field. The event was held by ACS-UU International Chapter in association with Resonance Club and International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
The Seminar was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Director, School of Applied and Life Sciences, who contributed their valuable insights on the significance of women’s contributions to scientific advancements. Dr Ritu Painuli, Dr Sadhna Awasthi, Dr Jyoti Ramojwar along with Dr Rohit Sajwan was also present. The event was coordinated by Dr Shivam Pandey and anchored by Dr Nidhi Mishra.
Students from various chemistry courses actively participated in the event, engaging in discussions and interactive sessions that highlighted the challenges and opportunities for women in field of science and technology. The event provided an excellent platform for networking, mentorship, and inspiration, reinforcing the importance of gender inclusivity in scientific research and education. The Global Women’s Breakfast serves as an international initiative to celebrate and support women in science and this year’s event at Uttaranchal University successfully upheld its mission by fostering awareness, dialogue, and collaboration among students and faculty members.
