Uttaranchal University hosted Mr Corey Glickman, Founder of Greenman Black, USA, and Dr Anil Prakash Joshi, founder of Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization. The esteemed guests were warmly welcomed by Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University.
Mr Corey talked about California forest fire and
shared his experiences with high and low technologies which can be used to
protect the forests from fire. Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor
highlighted that the University remains committed to extend any kind of support
for the implementation of sustainability initiatives.
Dr Anil Prakash Joshi, founder of Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization, shared his insights on the importance of such collaborative initiatives mentioning that we should adopt nature based solutions for forest fire research and it may contributes to environmental protection, local eco-system, and climate resilience. It leads to safer fire management strategies, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and the sustainable development.
A brief introduction of the University was presented by Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Director, Office of International Affairs. Afterwards, there was a productive discussion on potential research initiatives on forest fire protection. It would enhance student learning, career readiness, hands-on problem-solving, and promote publications, and industry collaborations. On this occasion, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Singh, Director, DRI, Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Director UIT, and Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Director SALS were present.
The meeting explored avenues enabling the students
and faculty members of Uttaranchal University to research on sustainability.
This meeting marked a significant milestone in Uttaranchal University's pursuit
of global academic and research excellence.
