The Women Cell, School of Liberal Arts hosted an Expert Talk on Nurturing Minds and Skills: A Gender Inclusive Approach to Mental Health on 20 November 2024. The event aimed at raising awareness and sparking meaningful conversation around mental well-being. The session featured Dr Pratibha Sharma, a distinguished Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Director SLA and Dean Student Welfare, Dr Kartikey Gaur, Director UCHS, Dr Reeta Rautela, HoD SLA and faculty members, graced the occasion with their presence   

The speaker delivered a thought-provoking presentation, covering a wide range of topics, including the stigma around mental health, coping strategies, and the impact of stress, anxiety and depression among students. The session was engaging and interactive, offering valuable insights on mental health and its related issues.  

One of the most remarkable aspects of the event was the active participation from students. Throughout the session, students posed various questions related to mental health, including inquiries about managing stress, dealing with loneliness, previous traumatic experiences, relationship problems and other mental health challenges. The speaker resolved all the queries providing practical advice, emphasizing on the importance of communication. The speaker’s emphasis on mental well-being as an integral part of overall health resonated strongly with the audience, inspiring students to take a proactive approach to their mental health.  

The session concluded with a round of applause for the guest speaker. The event not only highlighted the importance of mental health awareness but also demonstrated the university’s dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
