The Uttaranchal Institute of Management at Uttaranchal University hosted an insightful event titled "Cracking the code: A Career in the Indian Army and other Administrative Services" on 19 November 2024. The lecture was delivered by Lt. Col. Smita, AEC, IMA, Dehradun and Capt. Shiva Porwal, Registrar, IMA, Dehradun. This event contributes to when one can enter the Indian Army and what are the various entry gates. 

The event, hosted by the enthusiastic Jahanvi Jakhmola from the B Com, began with a wave of positivity and energy. Dr Mobin Anwar, Assistant Professor, UIM, gave a welcome note of guest speakers. The formal proceedings commenced with Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri,  Director, UIM extending a warm welcome to the esteemed guest by presenting a planter. 

Lt. Col. Smita described the Indian Army as a noble way of life defined by sacrifice, honour, and service, inspiring students to see it as a career of leadership, resilience, and purpose, bringing pride and respect. Officers covered various entry pathways to the Army, including the Short Service Commission (SSC), AEC (Army Education Corps), AMC (Army Medical Corps) specialized roles offering insights into the opportunities available to passionate and determined individuals. 

Capt. Shiva Porwal highlighted the key traits of an Army officer—courage, determination, stamina, and self-confidence—that empower them to lead with excellence. They also emphasized the perks of Army life, such as job security, adventure, a comfortable lifestyle, and post-retirement benefits, making it a path of honour and fulfilment. The event inspired students, showcasing a career in the Indian Army as a profound commitment to the nation and a source of unmatched pride.
