The School of Liberal Arts organized a five-day educational visit to Amritsar and Shimla from 1 October 2024 to 5 October 2024, for the students of BA (H) Psychology, BA (H) English, BA, MA English, and MA Psychology. The visit aimed to combine academic learning, professional exposure, and cultural exploration.
In Amritsar, the students visited the Golden Temple, experiencing its spiritual significance and architectural beauty, followed by a reflective visit to Jallianwala Bagh, a poignant reminder of India’s colonial history. The day concluded with the ceremonial parade at Wagah Border, showcasing patriotic fervor and cultural exchange.
In Shimla, the focus was on academic and professional learning. Students toured the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), gaining insights into its historical and academic importance in interdisciplinary research and policymaking. They also visited the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), where psychology students interacted with medical professionals to understand the practical applications of psychology in healthcare, including mental health services and regional challenges in medical care. The trip also included visits to Shimla’s cultural landmarks, such as Mall Road, The Ridge, Jakhoo Temple, and Kufri, where students explored the colonial charm and scenic beauty of the region.
This educational visit offered a balanced experience, blending cultural exploration with academic enrichment and professional insights. Students gained practical exposure, developed a broader interdisciplinary perspective, and fostered teamwork and interpersonal skills. The trip was a resounding success, leaving students with enhanced knowledge and a deeper appreciation of India’s heritage.
