The School of Applied and Life Sciences organized an event on Himalaya Day on 09 September 2024 under the Eco-club for the conservation of Himalaya and Himalayan Ecosystem. The theme of this event was “Preservation of Unique Himalayan Ecosystem and Broader Himalayan region.
Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Director, SALS was the guest of honour on this occasion. The program co-ordinator Dr Sadhna Awasthi, felicitated the guest of honour with a bouquet and presented the welcome note by addressing all the audience and participants.
Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh shared his views on the theme and emphasised on the need to preserve unique Himalayan Ecosystem and acknowledged the role of Himalaya in sustaining life on earth. The main purpose of this event was to raise awareness for the conservation of great Himalaya among the students. Dr Ritu Painuli, Dr Nidhi Mishra and Dr Rohit Singh Sajwan were also present during the event.
A quiz competition and awareness rally were also organized on this occasion. An oath taking ceremony for the preservation and conservation of Himalayan ecosystem followed it. Later the winners of quiz competition were announced, followed by prize distribution. The team of students of B Sc(H) Chemistry I Semester, Shaurya Mehra, Twinkle Rana, Swati Basliyal and Chahat Soni stood first in quiz competition.
