The one-day industrial visit to Alder Biochem, Dehradun organized by the School of Applied and Life Sciences on 23 August 2024, provided M Sc Chemistry/IC and M Sc Biotech students with rich learning opportunities encompassing visit to each section of Alder Biochem. The trip was organized by Dr Monika Singh and Dr Rohit Singh Sajwan as trip coordinator, along with Mr Ravi, Quality Control Manager of Alder Biochem allowed the students to explore several significant sections of Alder Biochem and Ved Lifesavers (p) Ltd., such as raw material storage room, Manufacturing section, coting unit of drugs, packaging section and well established quality control section along microbiology lab. Each unit was well organized, and students delved into various aspects of Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry as well as aspects of Microbiology. Additionally, the students gained valuable insights into the pharmaceutical industry, including the various stages of drug production, quality control, and microbiological control during the technical session led by Mr Ravi. These diverse experiences not only enhanced their academic knowledge but also deepened their understanding of key microbial strains, drug synthesis, quality control parameters, and packaging techniques. The visit inspired their academic and professional pursuits in the fields of Chemistry and Biotechnology, while broadening their understanding of industrial-scale applications in both disciplines.
