On Aug 3, 2024, the Security Wing of Uttaranchal University, with the support of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, conducted a fire safety awareness session on campus.
The session aimed to provide the staff with crucial skills to effectively manage fire emergencies in the workplace.
Organized by Dr. Amit Bhatt, Campus Director, Mr. Krishna Kant Kala (Estate Manager) and coordinated by Mr. Kuldeep Singh (Fire Safety Supervisor), Mr. Bhanu Prakash (Auditorium In charge), and Mr. Himanshu Yadav (Sound Technician), the event featured an informative lecture by Mr. Kuldeep.
He discussed various types of fire extinguishers- water, foam, dry powder, Carbon Dioxide, and wet chemical- and their specific uses. Mr. Kuldeep stressed the importance of selecting the appropriate extinguisher for different fire types, noting that using the wrong extinguisher can worsen the situation.
The staff also participated in practical demonstrations, gaining hands-on experience in extinguisher use. The session aimed to educate staff on fire hazards, risks, and effective prevention and response strategies.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi appreciated the Security Wing for their efforts in organizing this valuable safety awareness session, which was attended by 150 participants, including administrative and other University staff members.
