“Deeksharambh 2024- Orientation cum Induction Program”

The School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University hosted its Orientation cum Induction Program for the fresher students titled “Deeksharambh 2024” from 12 August to 23 August 2024 which aimed at easing their transition into university life and fostering community spirit. The program began with the reporting of students and verification of their documents, followed by an energetic flash mob that set a lively tone for the week. Day 1 focused on foundational aspects such as a session on anti-ragging, which emphasized the institution's commitment to a safe environment. Mentors and mentees were allocated by class coordinators to provide personalized guidance. Additionally, a mentoring session on aligning student aspirations with family expectations was conducted, followed by an extempore and an interactive "Know Your Friends" session, which ended with another flash mob. 

On Day 2, students explored the university campus and participated in creative activities, including writing, art, and craft, which encouraged creativity and bonding. The day was rounded off with another flash mob. Day 3 shifted focus to values and academic resources, featuring a session on constitutional values, an interactive "Unmaze the ERP" session by the ERP team, a session by the Women Cell, a visit to the departmental library, and a debate on the need for a caste-based census. Day 4 was dedicated to mental health and well-being, with sessions on mental health, universal human values, and various sports activities to promote teamwork and fitness. 

Day 5 featured central-level activities, including an interactive session on “Research and Innovationby Team DRI and a talk titled "Inspire to Aspire" by Team CRC. Students also engaged in a "Know Your School" event and showcased their talents. Day 6 included an expert talk on mental health and a reflective visit to the Buddha Temple. On the final day, students learned about library resources in the "Know Your Bookshelves" session by the University Librarian, received information about SLA clubs, and participated in an open mic session. The program concluded with an ice-breaking session, addressing students' queries and collecting feedback. Overall, the induction program successfully introduced students to the university's culture, resources, and community, laying a positive foundation for their academic journey. The program, coordinated by the faculty members and students under the guidance of Dr. Reeta Rautela, HOD and Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Director SLA and Dean Student Welfare, was a resounding success.
