School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, Dehrdaun celebrated World Day Red Cross on 08 May 24 on the topic “Keeping Humanity Alive” which is one of the first principles of the Red Cross.

Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean SLA emphasised the importance of service to society. He also mentioned that volunteers are the backbone of Indian Red Cross activities, enabling branches to execute successful initiatives and benefiting millions of disadvantaged people. He mentioned that the concept of keeping humanity alive is deeply rooted and spiritual teachings that guide individuals toward leading a life of compassion, integrity, and service in Indian philosophy,. Across various philosophical traditions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, some profound insights and principles emphasize the importance of nurturing humanity in both individual and collective spheres.

 Dr Kumar mentioned that let’s honour the countless volunteers and staff who work tirelessly to bring relief and hope to those facing the greatest hardships. And let us recommit ourselves to the noble cause of humanity, ensuring that the principles of compassion, dignity, and solidarity remain at the forefront of our collective efforts to build a better world for all. The event was coordinated by Dr Anita Yadav Assistant Professor, SLA. A total of 125 students attended the session.
