Donation drives on campus are a great way to help those in need and promote sustainable practices. The drive aims to collect gently used or new clothes from students, faculty, and staff on campus and donate them to people in need. The primary objective of the donation drive was to distribute clothes and shoes to the residents of the nearby slum area which was located near Nanda Ki Chauki . Many individuals in such communities lack access to necessities, including proper clothing. By organizing this event, the Nirmaan Club aimed to address this need and provide relief to those who are in need.
The purpose of the donation drive on campus is to encourage people to donate their old clothes, shoes, books, etc and provide them to the less fortunate people of society. The Donation boxes were placed in strategic locations on campus to collect the things. These boxes were labelled with the type of clothes that can be donated, such as men's, women's, or children's clothes. Then the collected clothes were then sorted, washed, ironed, and folded neatly.
The Donation drive was scheduled from 22/04/2024 to 29/04/2024 and clothes were distributed on 02/05/2024. The donation drive was done under the supervision of Prof (Dr) S D Pandey Dean, UIT, Mr Awadhesh Chandramauli, HOD-Civil Engineering Department and Mr Ashish Pathani, Coordinator- Nirmaan Club.
The donation drive organized by the Nirmaan Club was a resounding success, thanks to the collective efforts of volunteers and the support of the local community. Such initiatives underscore the importance of community-driven efforts in addressing social issues and fostering a culture of compassion and empathy.
