Yuva Fest-2024, hosted by Uttaranchal
University, reached its exciting conclusion on April 13. The day kicked off
with an alumni reunion, followed by an enchanting evening highlighted by a
mesmerizing live performance by the dynamic duo celebrity, Neha Kakkar and
Rohanpreet Singh.
Since morning,
former students have been arriving at the university. Over 500 students from
various states joined the alumni gathering. Among them were individuals from
the inaugural batch of 2002, now holding significant positions both nationally
and internationally, contributing their services both in the country and
abroad.
As the alumni
arrived, they were welcomed with rhythmic drumbeats, setting a festive tone. A
cultural extravaganza unfolded in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, where
students paid homage to the alumni through captivating performances. Returning
to their alma mater after 15 to 20 years, the former students relished the
nostalgic atmosphere. They reminisced about their college days, sharing
anecdotes and updates on their current endeavours. The alumni were delighted to
reconnect with their former teachers, immortalizing the moment with joyful
selfies, making the occasion truly unforgettable.
During his
speech, the Chancellor of the University, Sh. Jitender Joshi, got emotional
while talking on the inception of Law College Dehradun 22 years ago and the
journey of its inaugural batch. His sentiments resonated with both the alumni
and himself. He expressed heartfelt emotions, acknowledging the vast network of
alumni spanning across the globe. He humbly stated, "With a family of thousands of alumni contributing nationally and
internationally, I consider myself to be the wealthiest individual in the world."
The Vice Chancellor of the University,
Prof. Dharam Buddhi, extended a warm welcome to the alumni, updating them on
the University's progress and extending invitations to collaborate on various
initiatives.
The evening was
marked by the electrifying performances of the young sensation, Neha Kakkar. As
Neha took the stage by storm, the students erupted in cheers, warmly welcoming
her with applause. Her renditions of popular songs such as "Mile Ho Tum Humko," "O Humsafar," "Mahiven," "Taron Ke Shehar," and "Dilbar" resonated with the
audience. Amidst her captivating performance, Neha not only entertained the
crowd in her signature style but also showered praise upon them and the city of
Dehradun. During a special moment in the program, Neha dimmed the lights and
encouraged the audience to illuminate the venue with their mobile torches,
transforming the ground into a twinkling spectacle reminiscent of the night
sky, much to the delight of the 10,000-strong audience. Following suit, Rohanpreet Singh took the stage, captivating the crowd
with his performances of "Do Galaan," "Wah-Wah Jatta,"
"X Calling," and "Peene Lage Ho," earning thunderous
applause.
Those present on the occasion were distinguished figures such as Pro-Chancellor, Ms. Ankita Joshi, Executive Director, Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Registrar, Dr. Anuj Kumar Rana, along with esteemed faculty members including Prof. Pradeep Suri, Prof. Shravan Kumar, Prof. Poonam Rawat, Prof. Vikash Jakhmola, Prof. Sonal Sharma, Prof. Ajay Singh, Dr. Manish Badoni, Er. Rajesh Deorari, Mr. Iqbal Singh Sawhney, Mr. Saurabh Rajvanshi, and thousands of students.
